Leona Louise (born 3 April , 1986) is a British musician, actress as well as activist and performer. Born and raised in the London Borough of Islington, she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis gained the attention of the nation when she was crowned The X factor's third season in 2006. Also, she was awarded the PS1 Million recording contract from Syco Music. A cover of Kelly Clarkson's"A Moment Like This" was her prize. The song racked up 50,000 digital downloads in under 30 minutes, and peaked at No. 1 for 4 weeks. Clive Davis's label, J Records, signed Lewis to a contract for five albums with J Records in the United States. The success of Lewis continued after the announcement of her debut studio album, Spirit (2007), which was certified 10x platinum in the UK and became the fourth top-selling album in the decade and among the best-selling albums in UK chart history. It is reported by the Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the most successful 21st century album of debut by a female artist. "Bleeding Love" was the first single of Spirit, remained #1 within the UK for seven weeks. The single was also the top-selling UK single. In the US this was the most-seller single of 2008 , and Lewis was named the best new Artist by Billboard that same year. Echo was her second studio album. Lewis also composed the song "I I See You" in the movie Avatar. Lewis's song "Collide," was written in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii as well as Hurt the EP, her first long-form play. Glassheart (2012) was Lewis the release of her 3rd studio album. It marked Lewis' first venture into electronic music and dubstep. The Glassheart Tour was in the beginning of 2013, as she began to record material to record her first Christmas album. In the following year, Christmas with Love, which featured the single that was released as the album's lead track "One more sleep" was ranked third in the UK. This chart position was what made Lewis to be the first British single female singer to achieve the top fivespot, with eight songs. Also, she beat Olivia Newton-John's record of seven.
